All my liberal friends always bring this subject up when talking about abortion. That the presdient who is sitting in the White House right now since he took office in January of 2001 more abortions have happened. After looking it up on the net it is the case. All my liberal friends were wrong I was not surprised because he is a pro-life presdient and would do anything in his power to stop abortions if he could. What I think should be done is have them know that there are other options like adoption and make sure they know excatly what they are doing to their innoncent bundle of joy. The I would reverse Roe Vs Wade which made abortion legal here in the us of a. When you do that it will be up to the states to decide to have abortion or not and I think maybe one-fifth of the states would outlaw abortion. As much as I hate abortion (unless womens life is in danger or rape) I don't want the federal Goverment to ban it.
According to http://www.johnstonsarchive.net/policy/abortion/ab-unitedstates.html The first recorded abortion in the USA was in 1930 there was 2 abortions. The following year it went up to 48 abortions then it continued to rise little by little till 1971 what happened that year? thats right The Supreme Court ruled that in one of the greatest countries of all time it was ok to kill innoncent babies that did nothing wrong. Most of these parents don't want to take responsibiltiy for the consquences of having sex instead lets just kill something innoncent. Fast Forward I go to the year 2000 when Bill Clinton was still in the White House and there was 1,312,990 abortions. Look at George W. Bush's first 345 days in the White House it went DOWN yes down to 1,303,000 thats 1,303,000 to many but it did go down by 9,000 abortions. As Mr. Bush's years went by the less abortions there were.
I found a web page that "Half of all US women having abortions have had at least one other abortion". Yes this is from a study from the Alan Guttmacher Institute which is a research affilate to Planned Parenthood. In the study Titled "Repeat Abortion in the United States" research found that 48.2 percent of women who had abortions during the year of 2000-2001 were obtaining multiple abortions to read the full article go to http://www.lifesite.net/ldn/2006/nov/06112301.html
The Guttmacher Report on Public Policy says that the Bush adminstrations policy to reduce abortions in this great country. This policy is to fund abstinence only program which they raised the budget that they get to do this program. I do believe that teens will be teens and I know as a teenager that the temptation is there. This is why I am ok with the schools giving condoms out to kids. My high school in 2002 when I was a Junior did give out condoms to our entire class. For those who might have a problem with that I will say that the temptation is there and I rather them be protected and not get diseases or pregnet. More then likely they will have an abortion. In 1997 there was 3 programs promoting abstinence. Heres what they can teach in public schools...
According to federal law, an eligible abstinence education program is one that:
A) has as its exclusive purpose, teaching the social, physiological, and health gains to be realized by abstaining from sexual activity;
B) teaches abstinence from sexual activity outside marriage as the expected standard for all school age children;
C) teaches that abstinence from sexual activity is the only certain way to avoid out-of-wedlock pregnancy, sexually transmitted diseases, and other associated health problems;
D) teaches that a mutually faithful monogamous relationship in context of marriage is the expected standard of human sexual activity;
E) teaches that sexual activity outside of the context of marriage is likely to have harmful psychological and physical effects;
F) teaches that bearing children out-of-wedlock is likely to have harmful consequences for the child, the child's parents, and society;
G) teaches young people how to reject sexual advances and how alcohol and drug use increases vulnerability to sexual advances; and
H) teaches the importance of attaining self-sufficiency before engaging in sexual activity.

In closing, I do think this is the best for our country to have these lessons in school. I don't think that condoms should not be given to 11 year olds like they wanted to in Maine. We should be like certain countries like Brazil, Bhutan,Mali, Philippines where if the womens life is in danger or rape thats the only time they can have abortions...
